The City of Coral Springs will be having a "Shredathon" on January 28th, Saturday in front of City Hall at 9551 W. Sample Road from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (or until the truck is full) to help prevent identity theft.
Residents may drop off personal paperwork to be shredded with an industrial-grade shredder. Bring paperwork that includes sensitive information like pre-approved credit card applications, bills, bank statements, pay stubs, forms with your Social Security number, junk mail; other documents with your and your family's name, phone numbers, e-mail address, home address, and so on.
There is a limit of 5 boxes per person. Additional boxes in excess of the limit are welcome by making a $5/box donation towards the Special Olympics. There is no need to take out staples, paper clips or rubber bands; but please refrain from bringing plastic bags, binders and clamps.
The Shredathon is a free event that is co-sponsored by the Coral Springs Police Department, Coral Springs Seniors and Law Enforcement Together, and Data Shredding Services of Ft. Lauderdale. For more information, please call 954-344-1833.
